showin' off

This is what matt has been working on lately. He is incredible.

I really hope it gets to do music academy of the west this summer. (and part of me hopes he doesn't get in so he stays home with me).

This is what talent and hard work looks like together.

I'm so proud of him.

fresh and new!

Matt and I are in the process of completely gutting out our old rooms at our parents homes. Last night we got close to finishing Matt's room and decided to take two of his big shelves! Our studio is not very big so lots of things were trashed so we can actually fit it in our space. It was so fun going through matt's books. We kept all our favorites and the classics that we want to share with our kids someday. I realized that I love reading and need to read again for fun. (school usually dictates what I have to read). So in honor of the new year I bought some books off amazon. These will be my first two reads

Bel canto is a murder mystery involving an opera singer. (fabulous). and Tina fey is one of my favorite women ever.

I'll show you the new shelves when we get them here.

We love kids movies.

Lately Matt and I have been doing two things we love. Cooking and watching movies. We have a netflix account but...Hello? What is up with that place? There is nothing on there worth watching.
So to combat this entertainment problem we've been watching movies on Youtube.

First my favorite

And then two nights later...

matt's favorite.

I didn't think that getting married meant becoming a little kid again.

i love it.

California Christmas eve!

How wonderful is my husband to get me this awesome a la Elton John glasses. I squealed when I tried them on.  They will be absolutely perfect for las vegas.

We woke up this morning and only wanted pizza. So we went to the Pizza my heart where we had our first date and sat in the same booth. At least I think it was the same booth. It doesn't really matter though. The important part was being together and the pizza.

I love Pizza.

And I love my husband.

I love my family!

The last couple of days have been so fun for Matt and me! We've just been spending time together with friends and family. Thats my favorite part Christmas. Just spending time laughing and being together.

Monday was Taylor's steelers vs niners game party. Sadly I left my camera at home. ):

BUTTTT Tuesday I did bring my camera to rachel's Zion Choir performance on Temple hill. Rachel sounded and gorgeous in her solo and the rest of the time watching my Dad play angry birds was entertaining! Afterwards we had Ihop courtesy of my sweet dad. and my sweet husband gave me his pickle. (:

my sad skin

Today I sang at a random presbyterian church. Some lady pulled a hair off my face and after seeing the dry skin that came off my face she brushed her hands off in disgust.

Excuse me?

Why are you touching my face?

I have never met you, and obviously am having major skin problems.

Some people need boundaries.

But of course being the kind person i am (or just remembering I'm here for the money), I said nothing and excused myself to the bathroom where I washed my hands and put some water on my face.

My skin is really sad. I'm on accutane which dries out my skin and has a bunch of other nasty side effects.  This medicine is killer. I feel 40 years older. To get semi-graphic when I put  lotion on, my skin starts bleeding. I take this medicine with the promise that my cystic acne will disappear.

My mom said the sweetest thing to me. "You're skin is looking really good!". I wanted to cry right then and there. I love that woman. I'm glad we've become such good friends.

This semesters Lessons learned

Today was the last Monday of a life changing experience for me. I took a semester off from SJSU and went to my hometowns beloved community college. I needed some time away for financial, health, and just sanity reasons. I decided to still take classes so that I could still work on my degree. Here are some things I learned.

1. Exercise can make a grey sky blue.

2. I like the taste of fresh fruits and vegetables better than frozen.

3. I try to cook with olive oil so i can get monounsaturated fat.

4. I like being by myself sometimes.

5. I try to walk 3 feet per second to increase my life.

6. I love coming home and cooking with my husband.

7. Finding out about Spotify, Picasa, and Evernote changed everything. These are free programs that I use everyday. FABULOUS.

8. NPR is actually very educational and interesting. I feel smart when I listen to it.

9. Walks with my mom and Emmie make everything better.

10. Laundry is infinite.

Taking less classes has shown me there is soo much more to life than school. And I like Life. The most important lesson I learned is Music is not Life. Music is meant to help express emotions in or about life. With this realization I'm ready to go back to SJSU and finish my degree (three more semesters...)

And Last but not least, I saw a burrito truck pulled over on the highway and I couldn't help but think "location, location, location"

new favorite music

Probably my favorite band of the year.

tickling my fancy

Amy sol is my new favorite artist. I love all the sleepy animals. I wish I was Asian.
My hubby has had work almost every night. It was so nice to snuggle and watch master chef.
"You can tell by the way I walk I'm a woman's man..."

I had some delicious chicken tonight and thought about the time I got free eggs from a rooster.

Some people get baby hungry. I'm puppy hungry.
This was me in Salzburg, but this will basically be me tomorrow when I sing.

Trying to reduce my ice cream intake to reduce the chances of this.

Here's San Jose States new arts logo. Love it. Especially Rapunzel in the back.

Started accutane.

Felt like shit.

Chopped my hair off.

Felt amazing.

Soon the accutane will be over and I'll have clear skin.

After 4 months of pain, and years of sadness, I think I'll deserve it.

Life lesson # 759

A bad audition doesn't mean its a bad day.

I forgot the words. First in an aria I've sung a million times, then in an aria I've only sung a thousand times.

I decided to not let it ruin my day though.
